Unforsaken: Fallen
by P. T. Nevidoma
"I have never seen or imagined such horror and violence. I am terrified as I get up and pull up the boy with me and run through to the back of the building. I rush through a doorway to find a man menacing a woman with a chain, about to swing. I let go of the boy. I run for momentum and jump; I thrust my feet into the middle of the man’s spine.
He goes flying. I follow him and get over him and hit him until he stops moving. My hand hurts. His face is a mess. My mind draws the parallel between myself and the raider with the machete outside. I don't know what to think of this. I turn to the woman. I see I did not save her as I thought I had."
This short story is many things, including an all out assault on moral ambiguity. It is inspired by Winston Churchill, World War II, The Battle of Stalingrad, C.S Lewis, The Russians at Stalingrad, The Germans at East Berlin, the Jews in the camps and ghettos , The British on their Island home, Bonhoeffer in his prison, The Greeks and the British colonists, The Spartans at Thermopylae, The Athenians at Marathon, The Carthaginians at Canea; all and any who won't quit when presented with hopeless circumstances. Dedicated to the brave but more so to the weak, the timid, the meek, to the fatherless. May they find their Father. Above all this story is an outpouring of one saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. None are forsaken whom believe in Christ Crucified.
